English, German, French, Chinese, Spanish, Turkish-KIU students not only speak excellent foreign languages, but also perform, read poetry and sing! This could be seen at the annual festival "LangFest", which was held by the Department of Foreign Languages and Translation of KIU.
April turned out to be "hot" for future linguists: for a whole month, students together with teachers prepared numbers for one of the most significant events of the year. Perhaps, the main goal of the festival is to interest the viewer in another culture, to convey the love for a foreign language, so the guys carefully selected the material for the performance: they were looking for the same song, staged dances and skits, taught heartfelt poems.
The participants of the festival were students-linguists of all courses of study, as well as children studying in the direction of "Tourism". In addition, teachers of the Linguistics department performed on the stage.
The festival included twenty-seven performances and became a real celebration of foreign languages, cultures and performing arts. Where else will you be able to see the elegant Chinese dances? And listen to "Rasputin" in German? To witness the shooting of the English film "Orient Express"? Or to communicate with polyglot students? Our linguists have shown that they can do any genre in any language.
A surprise for the teachers was a video from the students, in which they asked tricky questions to their mentors.
The closing speech was taken by the head of the Department of Foreign Languages and Translation, Rosa Valeeva. She wished the guys to be "not only good professionals, but also decent people." At the end of the event, an award ceremony was held, certificates of honor and gratitude were presented to the winners of competitions and activists.
The festival is over, and I want to believe that thanks to it, there are even more lovers of foreign languages and other cultures!
