Every year, students from different countries of the world come to KIU to study Russian. By tradition, teachers of the Department of Russian Language and Linguistics and employees of the Department of International Relations of KIU annually organize a phonetic tournament, where students can demonstrate their knowledge and skills that they acquire in the process of studying the phonetics of the Russian language. And this year was no exception - on November 22, another phonetics tournament was held for foreign students of KIU.
The KIU Phonetic Tournament is an interactive set of tasks using verbal and non-verbal skills acquired during training, individuality, creativity, and the ability to work in a team.
Students from different countries competed in their knowledge of the alphabet and in the correct and clear pronunciation of Russian letters and sounds, tongue twisters, numbers, poems from numbers and much more. All participants made every effort and once again proved to themselves and their teachers that they are excellent at mastering a new language. During the game, fans of the teams also actively participated - foreign students who successfully graduated from the preparatory faculty of KIU and are currently studying in undergraduate programs.
Speech by a student from China, who came on an exchange program with Liaoning Petrochemical University, with a poem by A.S. Pushkin «Если жизнь тебя обманет…» (“If life deceives you...”) became the highlight of the event.
At the end of the tournament, the best team with the most points was the «Барабан» (“Drum”) team. All participants were given memorable gifts.
We wish all students success and not to stop there!
